Play in a quite place with no distractions such as TV or other
people / kids.
Play this flash game 2-3 times a day for a few
minutes.
Play early in the morning and after afternoon naps when your
baby is the most attentive.
Have fun. this is a game where both the parents and baby will
have fun.
When not to play
Its better to skip the game all together if your baby is not in
a good mood.
Only play if you are in the mood to entertain and play with your
baby.
Don't play if there are distractions around.
Don't play if your baby is un-well.
How to Play
Before starting, tell your baby that you are going to play a
card game. you should have his / her undivided attention.
Show the word and say "this is the word apple"
Turn it around and say "this is a picture of an apple"
Action the picture to make your baby smile. Try eating the
apple.
Put the card with the word face up in front of your baby
Take out the next card and repeat steps 2-4.
Once you have done 6 cards, ask your baby "which one is apple?"
If its a first time, your baby will explore each card turning
them over to have a look at the photo.
As he/she does this, say the word again to reinforce the card
and place the picture face down in the same position.
When your baby gets it correct, kiss your baby and say well done
and clap. Your baby will be delighted with your response. Say the
word and show the picture as before.
Stop after a few minutes by kissing and rewarding your baby.
Tell him how smart he is.
If you see your baby's interest wondering to other things,
immediately kiss and reward your baby and put the cards away.
If done correctly, your baby will be disappointed that the game is
over and even throw a mini tantrum. This is ideal and indicates that the
baby is receptive to the game. You will be amazed at how quickly your
baby will pick up new words.
I recommend six new cards every day for a week. Every few days,
repeat a few cards. Your baby will be able to recognize the earlier
cards. Be sure to change the order that you present the words to keep
the game fresh.
Remember to always have fun playing this game with your baby.
